Oh So Special

If you have children, do you savor the special moments that you have with them, or are you telling them to go play so that you can finish the crazy number of items on your to do list? I have to admit that I am usually guilty of the later. Of course my list of things are important, but time moves so fast, and everyday my kids are saying, doing something different. I have to remind myself to enjoy them, love them, play with them, and for goodness sake, stop letting the t.v. spend more time with them than I do. Ladies, let's put those lists aside for 10 minutes and love on our kids. It just might be the highlight of the day.

Solutions for Itty Bitty Waistlines
I made that sound like a problem, right? Well it can be a bit of an issue if you are trying to find clothing for kids that are kinda on the petite side. My munchkins are all under the age of four, and one of the best places to find affordable, quality clothing is Target. Now, I know other companies make pants with adjustable waistlines, but you can get Cherokee brand jeans from my favorite store for $10. The pricing is different, but online they have the adjustable waists for older children, so they may offer them in stores also. Check it out!

Company Girls 2.19- It's All About Love

Yesterday my kids and I were in the store and I found a DVD of one of my daughter's favorite DVD series. I was excited about this because it was a great deal, but I didn't show it to her. As we walked around the store, my precious little doll decided that she wanted to display some defiant behaviors that she knew absolutely didn't work for me. In the midst of the foolishness and trying to discreetly chastise her, I kept thinking about the DVD; part of me wanted to put it back. Then I started to think about my relationship with Jesus and how He graciously blesses me, providing all my needs according to His riches in glory, and even some of my desires. And He does these things in the midst of my sinful foolishness and His chastisement. That is one of the most challenging aspects of being a parent. If you are a Christian, God uses these precious little sinners to sanctify you and put you in check.
And yes, I did buy the DVD, not because she deserved it, but simply because I love her.
But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.

The Power of Prayer
The past couple of weeks with my two year old have been rigorous. I don't really surrender to the notion of "terrrible twos", but lately, I don't know! A few days ago I decided I was going to pray with this little girl before I let her feet touch the floor. And so we did. And I must say that was one of the best days we had in a while. The Lord wants to mold the hearts of our children. All we need to do is get out of the way and let Him.
